On the Saturday 9/20 installment of OPEN AGENDA (S2 E48) we bring you footage from the ribbon cutting at the new UMES Aviation Maintenance School located at Salisbury Regional Airport (they have some very cool aircraft and equipment there to see). This program to train much needed aircraft maintenance technicians will support the future of the Salisbury Airport, which is a vital economic engine for the County. Creation of this program and securing the necessary funding was undertaken by previous Executive Administrations, past Councils, local civic groups, UMES and Piedmont Airlines. The current Executive's role was limited simply to signing the check (shortly after taking office) as required by the agreements. A big shout out to Piedmont for their generosity and commitment to our community.

Moving on, we'll fill you in on what facts are presently known about the Sheriff's Dept. working with ICE to enforce Federal immigration law. Much remains unknown, and speculation and misinformation are running rampant. Although the Executive issued a somewhat ambiguous press release about the County partnering with ICE, there is presently no evidence that the County or Sheriff's Dept. have either applied for or been accepted in ICE's Warrant Service Officer program, or any other immigration enforcement model.

Who knew that chickens could be so controversial? The Executive Administration seems particularly concerned about chickens invading residential neighborhoods. Perhaps there's some bigger fish to fry in this County, but right now it looks like chicken is on the Executive's menu, so we discuss some of the related practical and legal issues. The solutions may not be particularly complicated. Meanwhile, pass the gravy, please.

We'll also bring you up to date on the legal actions concerning downtown parking lots, as well as some questionable practices connected with political signage at the Government Office Building.

Tune in and be informed.
