On the Wednesday edition of OPEN AGENDA (S2 E31) we take a break from politics by celebrating some of Wicomico County's most treasured natural resources, recreational opportunities and cultural events with Sharptown Commissioner / Parks & Recreation Chairman, Mr. Mark Carroll. We bring you video footage of the ever-popular Sharptown Carnival, which is open Monday thru Saturday until August 23. Lots of family fun, rides and great food (particularly the famous oyster sandwiches). And don't forget Sharptown Heritage Day coming up in September. We also introduce you to Sharptown's two side-by-side parks situated on the banks of the upper Nanticoke River—Cherry Beach and Cope-Bennett Parks with their many recreational opportunities, including a sandy beach, fishing pier, boat ramp, picnic pavilions and multiple athletic fields. Then we travel about 25 miles downriver on the Nanticoke to visit Roaring Point Park with it's extensive beaches, abundant wildlife, and fantastic fishing and crabbing opportunities. Finally, we bring you information on how to get the kids registered for fall soccer programs countywide through the Wicomico Consolidated Soccer League. Life is good on the Eastern Shore. We are all truly blessed to live in an area that offers so much. Tune in and be informed (but have a good time doing it).
