Journalism is printing something that someone does not want printed. Everything else is public relations.
The much anticipated details surrounding the sudden resignation of Salisbury City Council President, D'Shawn Doughty, are now revealed on the Nov. 11 episode of OPEN AGENDA (S2 E69). But many lingering questions remain. Will he be held legally accountable for his deceptions? Were any other City Council members aware that he was no longer domiciled in Salisbury but remained silent? Have shadows been cast over the legitimacy of any legislation or commission appointments for which he made the deciding vote since becoming ineligible to serve? Why did the local mainstream media fail to do any investigative reporting, thus keeping the public in the dark? Perhaps most importantly, why do voters continue to tolerate the repeated betrayals of elected office holders in our City and County governments?
